Steve Austin and Neil Covey established National Occupational Risk Management Pty Ltd in 2011 with the specific objective of developing an automated tool that would encourage workers to report work place hazards as soon as they are discovered.
Both Steve and his wife Dr Jane Austin have specialised in work place safety psychology, induction and training for over 10 years and have worked at all levels from senior management to individual business owners from leading International Corporations to local trade operators. Neil has over 30 years experience in business management including full responsibility for the welfare of large teams of people (Please refer biographies on the About Us page).
The problem of potential hazard reporting is not in the training or setting out the requirements but getting workers to make the effort when many reporting systems are often slow, remote and cumbersome and with all the associated forms and paperwork for workers to wade through. Development of the ‘NORM’ hazard-reporting App is the result of over five years of investigation and research into a method of reporting that was immediate and easy for workers to use and flexible for many varied work place locations.
The advent of both Phone App and Cloud Computing technologies has now allowed NORM to meet all of these objectives and more, including an automated Cloud based report management and recording system. Our NORM App is easy, simple and quick to use and overcomes many of the hurdles that employers and employees face in meeting their obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (see Safety Obligations).
